What is Metta Meditation?
“Metta” is a Pali word meaning loving-kindness. In this form of meditation, we silently repeat phrases like:
May I be happy.
May I be healthy.
May I be safe.
May I live with ease.
We begin with ourselves, then gradually expand the circle: to someone we love, someone we feel neutral about, someone who challenges us, and eventually, to all beings everywhere.

How to Start Practicing Metta Meditation
One of the most beautiful things about Metta is how accessible it is—you can practice it anytime, anywhere.
Here are a few simple ways to get started:

First thing in the morning to set a loving tone for your day
Before bed to unwind and release tension
Anytime you feel stressed, disconnected, or in need of a reset
🌿 Where:
On your yoga mat or meditation cushion
Sitting in a chair (yes, even at your desk!)
While walking outside in nature
In a quiet moment during your daily routine (even in the car before picking up the kids!)
💬 How:
Find a comfortable seat and close your eyes
Begin by silently repeating phrases like:
“May I be happy. May I be healthy. May I be safe. May I live with ease.”After a few minutes, extend those phrases to others: loved ones, acquaintances, someone you’re struggling with, and finally all beings everywhere
Let the words be soft, steady, and sincere—there’s no “right” way, just your way
